Oscar Nominations 2013

This year the Oscar nominations have been as hotly contended as any year. With so many fantastic films relased over the “Oscar Period”, mumblings about who will and won’t be nominated has been heard for months.

Today, the nominations were announced by this years host Seth McFarlane and Emma Stone, ahead of the ceremony on February 24th. Lincoln leads the nominations with a total of 12 nods, with Life of Pi close behind with 11. Les Miserable and Argo also managed a substantial amount of nominations, with 15 between them. The Brit favourite Skyfall is also up for five nominations.

All in all, very few surprises with this years nominations, although many (myself included) may be surprised to see that Ben Affleck is not up for Best Director for Argo. It looks like it could be a clean sweep for Lincoln with nominations for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Lead Actor, but Life of Pi could give it a run for its money For the full list of nominations see below, and make your predictions accordingly.

Now all we have to do is wait until February 24th for the results, and just hope that Seth McFarlane does a better job of hosting than Billy Crystal!
