A couple of weeks ago I posted a poll to get an idea of who is everyone’s favourite superheroes as voted by you. Today, you get the results!
10 = Loki
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has won the hearts of fangirls as soon as he swaggered into Asgard as Thor’s brother. Trying to take over the world and kill off The Avengers won him even more! He’s set to return in the Thor: The Dark World.
Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) first appeared in Captain America, a weedy patriotic American who just wanted to do what he could for his country. Taking part in an experimental procedure resulted in this kind hearted super solider. He’s set to return in Captain America 2: Winter Soldier.
6 = Spider-man
Now in his second incarnation, Peter Parker, the high school student/spider powered superhero, is winning fans the world over. Andrew Garfield’s version is considered a closer relation to the comic book version of Spidey and will be returning to the big screen next year in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
6 = Wolverine
Possibly the most famous of the X-Men, Wolverine’s rugged appearance and no nonsense attitude keep him on the big screen. So far starring in four films, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be back on the big screen for the fifth time in The Wolverine released later this year.
6 = Batman
After the success of Christoper Nolan’s Batman series, it’s surprising that Batman isn’t higher on the list! The caped crusader has appeared in multiple franchises, but the Nolan/Bale partnership has been the best. With the last in the trilogy being released last summer, it’s going to be a while until we see him on the big screen again – and will sadly be without the gravelly voice Bale!
3 = Wonder Woman
She may not have had a film in years, but Wonder Woman is still popular. Superman’s love interest and general kick-ass Amazon, Wonder Woman is a powerful woman in the world of male superheroes. It’s rumoured that Wonder Woman might make an appearance in Man of Steel this summer, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
3 = Iron Man
The billionaire, play boy, philanthropist Tony Stark first appeared in Iron Man, the first in the unbelievably successful Marvel Cinematic Universe series. After the success of The Avengers, everyone kind of wished they had the wit and power of Stark, and we’re in luck – Stark is soon to reappear on cinema screens in Iron Man 3.
3 = Thor
The blonde haired demi-god first appeared on our screens in Thor where fangirls squealed over him nearly as much as his half brother! (see: Loki) Australian beefcake Chris Hemsworth perfectly embodies the Asgardian legend and will soon be back alongside Natalie Portman in Thor: The Dark World.
Deadpool may not have a film (and no, the Ryan Reynolds atrocity in X-Men Origins: Wolverine does not count!), but the merch with the mouth is always popular. The Deadpool game is due out in the summer, and with a rumoured script floating round the internet with the rumour that it’s officially in pre-production, it may not be long until we see him on the big screen.
Is there any surprise that the Man of Steel is number one? With multiple incarnations of the Kryptonian superhero spanning generations, Superman has been popular for decades. This years sees the turn of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman in Man of Steel released later this year.
