NEWS: San Diego Comic Con 2013

As much as I would love to say that I’m currently taking a break from roaming the con-floor to report back, I’m actually still in sunny England, being very envious of everyone who is there!Just because I’m not there doesn’t mean I can’t report all the amazing news that’s come from CC! So much fantastic news has come out this weekend that I won’t be able to report on it all, I must apologise if I’ve missed out any of your favourite things!

Let’s start with a bit of TV news first: Sherlock. While Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman weren’t at the panel, Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss and Sue Vertue were. They happily revealed that we will be properly find out how Sherlock survived that fall from the St Barts hospital, but more importantly how his death affected everyone. “The big thing we wanted to explore,” Mark Gatiss said, “is that in the original story, Dr. Watson’s reaction is dealt with very quickly. He sort of forgives Sherlock. And we thought, that can’t happen. Because if your best friend pretended to be dead, then reappeared, that’s going to have a big impact. We wanted to explore how it affected all of the regulars.” By the sounds of it, it’ll be worth having tissues close by – I expect Johns story will be heart breaking!

Although the stars werent able to make it, Cumbers and Freeman did sent a video to keep us entertained:

Also, we were told that John will be getting married and that Sherlock will be his best man. If you’ve read the books/watched the Robert Downey Jr films, you’ll already know that Watson gets married! There was a short clip shown, which included Watson telling Sherlock he loves him – cue the fan girl squees!
Just to be typically Moffat, series 3 will end on a cliff hanger. “You’ll be watching the end of the last episode going, ‘They wouldn’t stop it there would they?'” Moffat joked. You know what this means right? Sherlock series 4! Cumbers and Watson have been optioned for the fourth series but nothing has officially been confirmed.
The only annoying bit of news from the panel is that series 3 still doesn’t have a premiere date! All that was said was “early 2014” – how annoying is that?!
Next up is the Amazing Spider-Man 2 panel. Remember a couple of years ago when Andrew Garfield turned up in a basic spidey suit to talk to the panel? Well he kind of did the same again, expect this time he was on the panel and in a much cooler suit! Garfy, Marc Webb (who really does have the best name to direct the latest incarnation of spidey!), Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan took to the stage to discussed Amazing Spider-Man 2. While we were expecting to see a new Mary Jane in the second film, it’s been revealed that she’s been cut. Avi Arad, one of the films producer said, “We all felt the story got too big to have two girls. So it was the right thing to wait with it. The next movie will be in 3 years from now, so we love this girl, and time will tell.”  The main piece of news was the clip shown introducing Jamie Foxx’s Electro. Check out the clip here:

Sticking with the superhero theme, Zach Snyder officially announced a Superman/Batman team up for the next Superman film. Snyder said, “I just wanted to say I know there’s been a lot of speculation about what we’re doing, and I wanted it to come from me and say that it’s official that we’re going to do another Superman movie.”

“The truth is I’m not going to tell you what it’s about, but I can say that maybe there’s a single element that will be in the film that I could help you out with. And so I was thinking about how to do that, and I pored through the DC Universe to find a way to tell you this thing, and I came across a thing that might sum it up.” Harry Lennix, who stared in Man of Steel, was on hand to help with the reveal quoting from Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns ” I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.” Then, just to make it even more obvious, showed a Superman shield with the Batman logo behind it.

From superheroes to badass women! Later this year comes The Hunger Games: Catching Fire starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson as the Katniss and Peeta. Set to be one of the biggest releases of the autumn (being Thor: A Dark World of course!), it was about time be got a teaser trailer so here it is:

If you’ve been on Twitter in the last couple of months then you probably know about the Veronica Mars Kickstarter project. When the TV series finished a few years back, there’s been so many rumours about there being a film and now there finally is. Director, Rob Thomas, and Kristen Bell – Veronica herself – joined forces to get the film made and put it on Kickstarter. The money needed for it was raised in a matter of hours and they’re currently filming over in the States. To keep us occupied they’re teasing us with this glourious little trailer:

Finally, something for you animation fans – and I know there are a lot of you! – the latest from Legend of Korra: Book 2. After what must feel like a millenia for all you Avatar fans, Legend of Korra is almost back! Set to premiere later this year, the Book 2 trailer has been released to whett your appetite! Check it out here:

Now don’t worry, I’m not forgetting about all the amazing goodies that Marvel have given us over this weekend! There’s so much to go through that it’s getting it’s own post! I promise it won’t take too long to go up!
