12 Films of Christmas – Day Ten

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me; ten types of candy, nine Christmas wishes, eight nightmare dogs, seven dancing snowmen, six Christmas parties, five holidays! Four homemade traps, three skellington reindeer, two bad-mouthed con men and a Gremlin who is a cutie!

If there is one that almost definitely gets watched in every single British household at Christmas, it’s Elf. I remember seeing it in the cinema with my family when it first came out in 2003 – and I think it was my dad who was laughing the most!

Elf is the story of Buddy. Although being abnormally large, he believes that he is one of Santa’s elves having been brought up among the elves in the North Pole. One day he overhears some other elves discussing that Buddy is in fact a human and so he sets off to New York to find his real family.

Whether you’re old or young, everyone must sit down and watch Elf every Christmas. I am making it an official law of Steph on Screen, it simply wouldn’t be Christmas without it! If there’s any film guaranteed  to put you in the festive mood, it’s this one. I don’t know about anyone else but I always have the urge to make millions of paper snowflakes just like Buddy after watching this, but remember to take it easy on the syrup!

And remember, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!
