This week in film, it’s been all about the superheroes.
It was announced that Jared Leto will be taking on the Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad film.
Leto’s name has been floating around in connection with the Suicide Squad role for a while now, but it has now been confirmed that he’ll be taking on the clown-faced role. Margot Robbie will be Harley Quinn, Will Smith will be Deadshot, Tom Hardy will be Rick Flag, Jai Courtney will be Boomerang and Cara Delevingne (a name that has also been connected to this project for a while) will be Enchantress.
Cumberbatch will be Strange
No, there’s no insults here. Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast to play Doctor Strange in Marvel’s big screen outing for the Scorcerer Supreme. Expect to see him in an end credits cameo soon!
Arnie’s back (and can’t spell)
This week sci-fi fans were treated to a new trailer for Terminator: Genisys featuring Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and, of course, Arnie.
Bond is back
Well we all knew he was going to be. Yesterday, the name, cast and car for the Bond 24 were announced. Daniel Craig will, of course, be returning as 007, while Christoph Waltz will be playing the villain. Andrew Scott, better known as Moriarty in TVs Sherlock, joins the cast as Denbigh while Ralph Fiennes will return as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Wishaw as Q and Rory Kinnear as Tanner. Aston Martin took the opportunity to unveil the new Bond car, the DB10. Bond 24 aka SPECTRE will be released in the UK on October 24, 2015.
First sighting of Vision
Paul Bettany’s Vision has been pictured clearly for the first time thanks to new banners for Avengers: Age of Ultron at an international Disney promotional event. Paul Bettany is best known in the Marvel universe as the voice of JARVIS, Tony Stark’s faithful A.I.
